Bloom Where You Are Planted

“Each of you should continue to live in whatever situation the Lord has placed you, and remain as you were when God first called you.” 1 Corinthians 7:17

Like a flower that grows through a crack in the concrete, sometimes we have to just make the best of our situations and bloom right where we have been planted.  You see, not all of us are where we want to be in life quite yet. Not everyone can just quit their 9 to 5 job to chase their dream. Most of the time achieving a dream takes time, perseverance and a lot of hard work. We may not be exactly where we want to be or even where God wants us to be, but instead of becoming bitter or frustrated with our progress, why not make the best of our situation.

Living In Uncertainty

“Trust in the Lord with your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make your parths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

There are a couple of historical Christian people, who I enjoy reading about. Both of which happen to be authors and pretty well known. The First is C.S. Lewis and the other is Oswald Chambers.

Be Merry

“A merry heart does good like medicine…”  Proverbs 22:17

Did you know that some health facilities treat patients who suffer from chronic illness with “laughter therapy”? Laughter therapy is the use of humor to promote overall health and wellness. It aims to use the natural physiological process of laughter to help relieve physical or emotional stresses or discomfort. A growing body of research supports the theory that laughter may have therapeutic value.

Living a Life Filled With Thankfulness

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. “ ~Col. 3:15-17

The Messenger – June, 2017

The Apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith”. “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed”, the Lord said, “you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you”. (Luke 17:5-6)

Whether a chair can hold my weight or not has nothing to do with how much faith I have. My faith doesn’t make the chair any stronger or sturdier. So, increasing my faith is not necessary, but becoming better ac-quainted with the strength of the chair is. The stronger I discover it to be, the more willing I will be to sit in it and let it carry my weight. Case in point: A little faith is all you need when it’s firmly planted in the right Person.

Behold I am doing a new thing…

“You shall not go out in haste…for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” (Isaiah 52:12)

At the end of the year we turn with excitement to all that God has for our future, and yet anxiety is quick to arise when we remember our yesterday’s sins and blunders. But God is the God of our yesterdays, and He allows the memory of them to turn the past into a ministry of spiritual growth for our future. God reminds us of the past to protect us from a very shallow security in the present.
